Mundane Astrology is the astrology of countries, otherwise known as Political Astrology. Even countries have birthcharts and some have more than one based upon the time of some major event in its history, such as gaining independence. Mundane charts are subject to transits and progressions just like any other chart. In the UK there is a chart drawn up each year known as the Ingress Chart. It is set for the time that the Sun enters the sign of Capricorn, around 22nd December. This is also the time of the Winter Solstice. This chart gives indications of what may occur during the following year for the government and the country generally. In Mundane Astrology, the houses govern different aspects relating to the country as a whole, rather than the individual meanings in a natal birthchart. The meanings are similar, but applied in context of a much wider spectrum. Special note is taken of eclipses affecting a mundane chart as they signify major upheaval.
